:: MEET THE
TRAINERS
:: JASON BAUSCH
Jason
(aka JB) is a certified trainer through ISSA. He loves integrating
a variety of styles into his client's training to achieve a balanced
workout. Jason comments that “Young, old or athletic, you will
discover a new proficiency of movement and body control. A strong
foundation is crucial for a properly developed fitness program”. JB
has a tremendous professional background in athletics. He has
competed as both a world class cyclist & surfer. His impressive
cycling background includes obtaining pro status during his first
year in the sport & competing in the Olympic trials in 2004. JB
also holds claim to the SCNCA SoCal Cup; which he won in 2004 &
2005, thus making him the number one rider in Southern California.
In addition to his career with us as a trainer, Jason does freelance
work as an action sports model. He has been featured on the cover
page for top publications; such as Men’s Journal, Bicycling &
National Geographic Adventure magazine. JB also enjoys drawing &
has earned a BA in Graphic Arts from Platts University. |

:: HENRY BUSTAMONTE
Henry
is a certified trainer through IFPA as both a personal trainer & an
advanced flexibility specialist. Henry really connects with his
clients; due to his infectious passion for his career in health &
fitness. He loves getting his clients to fully commit to their
exercise regime & sees to it that they achieve results. He says “my
clients want results, so I listen, assess & form a plan of action,
and we work the plan. Keeping clients motivated is my an important
part of the job. I can to educate & be a positive force of change
to each client, their healthy lifestyle is my motivation.” |

:: PAT CALLAGHAN
Patrick
(aka Pat) is a certified trainer with IFDA. One specialty of
his specialties is athletic functional training. His workouts are
multi-faceted and address balance, stability & flexibility; as well
as strength. When he’s not training, Pat coaches soccer for the
Corona Del Mar boy’s varsity team. His education includes a Masters
degree in PE from Azusa Pacific & he will soon be completing his
teaching credential. Pat has also been certified as a sports &
soccer conditioning specialist. Recently, he began doing his
student teaching; which is the last phase of his coursework at
National University. Pat has demonstrated stellar performance in
juggling both his career & formal education; his diligence has paid
off & he has maintained a strong level of commitment to training his
clients during the process. |

:: JACQUE CARTER
Previously,
Jacque served as our Fitness Director &
is now our senior executive trainer. This is her twenty-third year
working in the fitness industry. She has 17 certifications to her
credit & has been certified since 1987. She’s earned both M.S. &
B.S. degrees in kinesiology from CSUF; as well as, an A.A. degree
from Stephens College.
For her master’s thesis, she tackled a research study examining the
effects of a specialized program for back pain and spinal stability.
This research was accepted for publication in research journals for
both NSCA & ACSM; and she presented at two ACSM meetings.
These two
organizations are among the most recognized within the fitness
industry & only one to two percent of graduate students achieve this
level as a result of their work. Her research was examined through
a process of peer review. Jacqueline taught her
program in the employee wellness program at CSUF. Since then, her
work has been recognized by professionals as a reference for
articles in NSCA & ACE journals. Jacque has been
featured in Shape Magazine several times; first as a success story,
then again when recruited to mentor another reader. She’s appeared
on FREE FORUM, KNX FM in LA to discuss fitness with hostess Laura
Brown & was an assistant for an aerobics video titled For Women
Only. She’s a Master Trainer educating & certifying fitness
professionals on stability ball training for Resistaball®. She has
also taught in the Kinesiology departments for universities and
community colleges. Jacque attends conferences & workshops
regularly. Her most extensive experience is in working with pre- &
post-rehab for orthopedic conditions, spinal stability, balance &
senior fitness. Jacque also creates programs for back pain & injury
prevention. |

:: CAROL CLARK
Carol’s
has been with Shape Up a long time starting as a member becoming an
avid exerciser, a Group Exercise Instructor and then a Personal
Trainer. Carol's commitment to fitness is infectious and she has
large classes and devoted clients! Carol’s teaching career has
included heading up our Swingin’ Seniors program with packed
classes as a result of her unlimited energy & her positive
attitude. Teaching is a natural for Carol; she holds a BA degree in
Social Science from San Diego State University & has a lifetime
teaching credential from Long Beach State. Carol also has several
certifications; namely, AFAA, ACE, Silver Sneakers & Resist-a-Ball.
Most of Carol’s clients are women of forty to eighty years of age &
she’s taken courses on peri- and post-menopause. Carol loves to
read, baby sit her grandchildren & travel (especially to Hawaii). |

:: CAIN GRANT
Cain
holds a training certificate from the NCSF and NASM. He has a
degree in Psychology from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln
& worked as a counselor prior to embarking on his fitness career.
In the past, Cain competed in both power lifting & football. His
training sessions emphasize anything from performance enhancement to
general well being. His active lifestyle includes hobbies such as
volleyball, basketball, racquetball & cycling. Cain has recently
completed several continuing education courses focused on
performance enhancement & functional training. He is always abreast
of cutting edge programming techniques. |

:: PAMELA
MOONEY
Pam
is certified by ACE & has a strong background in nutrition. She has
successfully completed two certifications with Intra-fit; with
concentration in the areas of advanced personal training & clinical
sports nutrition. She earned her degree at Monterrey Peninsula
College. Pam is an adventure seeker. Her curiosity & active
lifestyle have contributed to her love for traveling. Most
recently, she has traveled to Europe & went on a safari in Africa.
If you are an adventure seeker too, you might dare to partake in one
of her “road trips” to the beach for a workout. Pam has also taught
group exercise & has worked with Life Fitness; which is the company
that developed the Lifecycle. Prior to becoming a trainer, she
contributed to other departments within our organization through her
work as a membership coordinator & as our Front Desk Manager. |

JANECE PEREZ
Janece
is certified by ACE. Not only does she train clients; but she
teaches several types of group exercise. Her versatility has been
complimentary to our Swingin’ Seniors program, to her hard core
circuit training classes & she recently completed the first phase in
the process of obtaining the world renowned Johnny Gee Spinning®
certification. This was the first comprehensive group cycling
program created as a certification for fitness professionals. The
principles are sound in that they were developed by a professional
cyclist. Janece has an innate enthusiasm which did not stop there;
she has now taken to participating in group rides with competitive
cyclists outside of the club. Janece is highly motivated and has a
drive & love for fitness. |

:: JIMMY SHIN
Jimmy
served as our Fitness Director in the past and strongly believes in
integrated fitness that incorporates all forms of exercise;
including resistance, functional training, sport specific &
cardiovascular endurance. Jimmy has his BS in Biology & is
certified in personal training by ACE. Furthermore, he holds a
black belt in Martial Arts (Tae Kwon Do & Hapkido). His enjoys
golf, basketball & all sporting activities. Most recently, Jimmy
has completed continuing education courses emphasizing techniques
such as myofascial release. He always strives to keep our members
up to speed with all the latest techniques in training. He has
taught workshops on foam roller techniques and plans to return to
school to pursue a degree in physical therapy. Meanwhile, he
continues in his quest as a top trainer. |

:: LAUREN ZEALEAR
Lauren
comes from Santa Clara University, where she earned her B.A.
degree. She is pursuing her advanced degree in Physical Therapy &
is in the process of completing her science prerequisites at Orange
Coast College. Lauren has a passion for athletics & has an
extensive soccer background. While pursuing her studies in Santa
Clara, she participated on the well known Division I soccer team.
Lauren also developed exceptional coaching & motivational skills
with her involvement with the Olympic Development Program for the
state, regional & youth national soccer teams. Furthermore, she has
performed as a soccer stunt double for the lead role in Her Best
Move, a Summertime Film Production. Lauren holds a personal
training certification from AFAA & continuing education credits for
the latest methods in training speed, agility & power. |
