:: CORY BUFKIN
Cory is a
classically trained ballet dancer and has spent the last 16 years
intensely studying and perfecting her craft. She began her career as
a company member of Central West Ballet in Modesto, California and
continued her education with various other ballet schools such as
American Ballet Theater. After graduating high school, she lived in
New York while attending the New School University and performed
with the Joffrey Ballet School. The Joffrey Ballet School was where
she was first introduced to mat Pilates. Eventually moving to Orange
County, Cory performed with Inland Pacific Ballet as well as Ballet
Pacifica. She graduated from the University of California Irvine and
now holds her BFA in Dance/Performance. At UC Irvine Cory studied
Pilates under Diane Diefenderfer. She continued her education and
received her certification through Diane's studio, Studio du Corps.
Cory is excited about sharing her knowledge of dance and Pilates as
a Shape-Up Pilates instructor! |

:: TIFFANY JONES
Tiffany is a Certified Pilates instructor who brings more than 20
years of training in Classical dance and 10 years of Pilates
experience to center. Born in Long Beach, Tiffanny began ballet
training at a very young age with the Los Angeles Classical Ballet
and was exposed to Pilates at the age of 10. She has trained in
every genre of dance and furthered her formal studies by training
with world-renowned teachers such as Ms. Tania Lichine, David Allen,
and Rebecca Wright.
Tiffany began her dance career as an apprentice with Ballet Pacifica
then accepted a full contract with Columbia City Ballet where she
toured and performed in numerous ballets across the country. Upon
her return, she taught Classical ballet to students of all ages and
submerged herself in Pilates training with Rael Isacowitz. Tiffany
received her Pilates Certification from AMFPT and continues to study
under the Joseph Pilates method while remaining a tireless advocate
for tenacity, hope and discipline. Along with her schedule at
Shape-Up, Tiffany teaches to senior citizens. Her signature "cool
down," teaches clients to love their body by learning to release
stress and relax in the process. She brings to class an extensive
knowledge of the body, which helps the client to fully understand
core strength, flexibility and agility, alleviate back pain, and
other chronic ailments. |

:: MARY JANE
MARISOL
Mary Jane became interested in posture and alignment after working
in a chiropractic office for many years. She received her Pilates
certificate from Long Beach Dance and Conditioning in 2005. Mary
Jane brings a pleasant and caring touch to Shape-Up. Her quiet
demeanor is misleading by her demand for strict form and body
awareness. Mary Jane also teaches mat classes, spreading her
experience to the masses. Other things that interest her are
traveling, snowboarding, drawing and painting. |

:: MARYANN THOMSON
Born and
raised in southern California, this mother of two is passionate
about exercise. Maryann, a former professional dancer with the
Christenson Dance Company of Los Angeles, has studied modern and
ballet at The California Institute of the Arts. It was there that
she was introduced to Pilates. “I love the effect working out has on
your mind and body, it can solve so many of our emotional/physical
problems!” She is currently at O.C.C. working on her Certification
to teach Pilates.
Maryann has taught painting for 12 years and enjoys stitching
treasures out of vintage textiles. She also helps her community by
volunteering her time to help raise money for her son’s school and
families in need.
A fitness advocate, Maryann is excited to become an ambassador of
the Pilates method, and share her passion with others. |

:: JESSICA WARD
Jessica is
currently completing her Pilates internship at Shape Up through
Orange Coast College. Her passion and enthusiam stems from her
training with Ballet Montmartre of Newport Beach and the Orange
County High School of the Arts Classical/Contemporary Dance
Department. She continued her training in dance until Rheumatoid
Arthritis set her back. Jessica started working at Shape Up in 2005
as Front Desk and became more and more intrigued by the benefits of
Pilates.
While overcoming her illness Jessica become an avid student of
Pilates and weight training. Jessica is forever grateful to Shape Up
and Pilates for the inspiration and positive reinforcement. She is
now a passionate advocate of the cross training benefits of Pilates.
Jessica became an instructor because she wants to see other people
succeed and grow through Pilates. |
