W.O.W. FAQs
Why do W.O.W.?
To get more done in less time and to get in fantastic physical
condition! The W.O.W. is a well-thought program design that
addresses overall fitness. It will address cardio/respiratory
endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed,
coordination, agility, balance and accuracy.
When does each W.O.W. become known?
Each Monday. Check the W.O.W. board or our website for each week’s
program.
What if I am new to the W.O.W.?
Then start with our W.O.W. Fundamentals. The fundamentals is a
series of 4 workouts to get you acclimated to the structure,
exercises and pace of the regular workouts. You can download these
workouts off the website. Do each workout 2-3 days per week for 4
weeks then jump into the regular posted W.O.W. every Monday.
Am I fit enough to do the W.O.W.?
Are you fit enough to move? Of course you can do the workouts. The
beautiful thing about this program is that most levels of fitness
can benefit. Just scale the workouts according to your tolerance.
Make no mistake – some of the W.O.W. will be challenging but that’s
the idea! With increased capacity comes increased functionality and
health!
How do I “scale” the W.O.W.?
Always do the full workout. Modify the repetitions by plus/minus 3
repetitions. Some W.O.W. have specific notes on scaling the workout
so be sure to read the notes on each specific workout. The key is to
focus on quality of form and technique (for safety).
What if I don’t know how to do certain exercises?
Then learn! There are 2 sessions per month (Fitness Fundamentals)
that are held by our team of fitness professionals at Shape-Up.
You’ll learn the key exercises and movements to get you safely
through the workouts.
Will the W.O.W. help me lose weight?
Yes. Along with a balanced approach to nutrition, the W.O.W. will
get your metabolism to kick in while you build lean muscle.
Consistency is the key!
What if I have an injury or limitation?
You may have to modify certain exercises. However, with proper
form/technique coupled with regularity of training, you may begin to
see those “tweaks” diminish. Part of the goal is to get you to move
actively, athletically and with increased energy.
What do I do if I feel like doing more?
Then see CrossFit certified instructors Doug & Janece Katona and
commit to our Fitness Forces group. This group takes the W.O.W.
program and opens up the throttle! |
